The questions on the quizzes are vague and if someone (such as myself has an issue with blood sugar) why would bananas and pineapple, cantaloupe,oranges,etc, be ok to eat? Now way! Save yourself some time and money, it’s basically a low carb diet (which I like) without eggs, milk, nuts and seeds, but ok for high sugar fruit!?! Skip.

And because the index is not good (e.g. try to find bone broth), it makes it hard to navigate the book. I also agree with another reviewer that it seems to be heavy on certain groups of foods that I''d not expect to see for let''s say someone who''s having issues with digestive system. And like that reviewer, I think that there are better resources out there but I also do not regret buying this book - it did help me to organize my diet a little and I picked up a few new recipes.

My biggest issue with this book is that it is a very strict elimination program that most people would never want to do. If you are at all a person who has difficulty committing to a strict way of eating, even for 8 weeks, you might as well forget it. I am a Health Coach and I''ve tried all kinds of ways of eating and I love cooking, and even for me his elimination diet is intense. You must be prepared to meal plan, commit, and cook. A diet of fish, meats, greens, and fruit. No eggs, beans, legumes, sugar, alcohol, coffee, or grains (no rice or gf grains) etc for 8 weeks plus. At least for his "eliminate 8 diet" he also has the "core4" which is a little less strict. He even says to not use honey or stevia during the elimination diet, which I found odd.

I''m currently prepping my boyfriend and me to commit to the 8 weeks, and even the first week of grocery shopping, my grocery bill jumped from $100 to $175 because of the fish and meat since we have to eliminate cheaper sources of protein like beans and eggs.

The main reason I bought this book is I wanted to know more about inflammation and get more details and depth. However, there are only 30 pages worth of information on what inflammation is and why you should try Dr Coles elimination program. It''s pretty surface level information, all things you can find with a Google search. I knew pretty much everything written there, just from my basic research on inflammation. I wish there was more here. More details into WHY our body produces and inflammatory response to the foods. 20 pages are quiz and the remaining half the book is recipes.

I''ve tried a few of the recipes, they were delicious but they are time consuming. I made the Sausage-Stuffed Apples, and they are amazing!!!! But it was annoying to core each apple and make the recipe. If you are a busy person, you probably don''t have time to make many of the recipes unless you meal prep and reheat.

I''m looking forward to trying the eliminate-8 diet and see what happens once we start re-introducing potentially inflammatory foods, but I''m hoping to find a more detailed and science-study based book about the connections between food and inflammation.

Absolutely love this book! Inflammation and chronic illness are so prevalent today. More so than ever. There are a number of contributing factors to this and Dr. Cole lays them out clear and concise manner. I love what he says about some of us are so used to feeling badly that we don''t even know there''s an option. The truth of the matter is feeling better takes some commitment and isn''t an overnight process and Dr. Cole lays out a plan so nicely of how to figure out what foods are and are not working for you. You take an eye opening quiz and then your plan is laid out for you. Yes it is an elimination diet, but he spells out why these foods can be problematic and then once you go through the process, there is guidance on how to reintroduce the foods to see how you feel. There is prep guidance and one of my favorite parts of the book is he lays out inflammatory behaviors and environmental triggers as well because these things also profoundly alter our health. He is quite obviously kind and compassionate and his passion comes through in this book. There''s plenty of information and science on the "whys", but it''s not boring like some health books can be and for recipe lovers there''s that too! I can''t recommend this book enough to family and friends.

I had given up wheat/dairy/sugar a few years ago but slipped into bad habits again recently with a job change/busy lifestyle. My health had improved enormously whilst I had cut these things out but I still had some symptoms like bloating and fatigue. So knowing, I had to once again make changes, I thought this book might provide some ideas on what to eat if I were to cut out things like brown rice/lentils/beans; staples of my diet when I was eating healthy. I was very disappointed that the book very much encourages meat. Having not eaten meat for many years, this is a big no for me. The author does suggest to carry on eating lentils/beans etc which doesn’t provide a solution for any non meat eaters who want to do the 8 week elimination diet. So disappointing and a waste of money for me but a good book for anyone who does eat meat and wants to make healthy changes.
